Care and Maintenance Guide

Water – DO NOT OVER WATER.  DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Watering your terrarium is as unique as the individual piece.  Less is more when it comes to watering, but if you over water all is not lost.

Light – Your terrarium will thrive best in a bright environment with indirect sunlight.  Direct sunlight could cause burning and overheating in the terrarium environment.  Keep in mind that light is one of your terrarium's sources of energy and is just as important as the nutrients in the soil. Sometimes artificial light may be necessary if lighting conditions are too low to stimulate healthy plant growth.

Temperature – Most houseplants are comfortable between 65 - 75, but it’s possible to thrive as low as 55 degrees, but most household temperatures fall between 68 and 76 degrees.

Air Flow – Opening your terrarium from time to time to introduce fresh air will help to reduce excess humidity and help with mold control.  If your terrarium has a small opening, it is possible to keep the cover off permanently.

Terrarium Placement – Your terrarium may move depending on lighting, temperature, airflow, and season.  Be aware of your terrarium placement.  The perfect indirect lighting in the morning may not be ideal for the direct sun in the afternoon.

Food/Fertilizer - At times your terrarium will need nutrients from a houseplant fertilizer or worm castings.

Pruning - If your terrarium has a lid, eventually the plants will grow to the top and will need to be pruned.  You can prune the plant at a node and replant it back in the same terrarium or transfer it to another terrarium.
